Lucky's Southern Grill Grand Opening February 8 to Benefit Local Charity   

James Island family restaurant accepting donations for Save Veronica 

James Island, SC – Lucky’s Southern Grill will hold an official Grand Opening BBQ Bash on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 6pm. The event is free and open to the public and the family owned restaurant will be accepting $10 donations at the door to benefit local organization, Save Veronica .The BBQ Bash will feature a complimentary BBQ buffet with all the fixin’s and drink specials including $3 Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka cocktails, $2 domestic beer bottles and $20 bottles of wine. Regular menu will also be available. Live music performed by Jaykob Hendrik and Dave Landeo will start at 6pm.

Save Veronica.org is an organization dedicated to fighting for the rights of a 2-year old girl and her adoptive family who live on James Island. Based on the Indian Child Welfare Act, Veronica was removed from her adoptive parents after two years and handed over to the birth father who had initially blessed the adoption. When asked why they chose to use their Grand Opening party as a platform to raise money for Save Veronica, Lucky's co-owner Kimberly Traynor said, "We were already planning to host a party to thank all of the people who have made our first couple of months so wonderful. But when we heard the story of Veronica and her family, we felt compelled to help in any way possible." 

Lucky’s, located in the Island Plaza on James Island, first opened their doors to the public two months ago.  After remodeling the entire facility, Traynor and co-owner, John Davis, were able to create an open, relaxed atmosphere that complements the Southern Coastal cuisine. The menu features creative takes on traditional southern classic dishes as well as healthy alternatives. The scratch kitchen focuses on products that are indigenous to the area. Open seven days a week, Lucky’s offers lunch, dinner and a full Sunday brunch.
